Jim Hayhurst

Jim Hayhurst is a trusted advisor to founders, families and institutions at the intersection of purpose and capital. As an award-winning CEO and community leader, Jim has spent over 30 years helping individuals, teams and companies align resources with mission to create meaningful and enduring impact.

In his role as Managing Director at Cole & Associates, Jim brings a deep understanding of family and legacy, having grown up in two multi-generation businesses and then co-founding the award-winning charity, Trails Youth Initiatives (Trails.ca), with his late father. As a tech executive and supporter of numerous innovative charities, Jim has helped raise more than $70M in philanthropic and venture capital and was twice honoured by the Victoria technology community with their highest awards for leadership.

Most recently, Jim has helped activate innovative philanthropy, define values-based family office structures and support rising generations and new-to-wealth founders. Fluent across generations, sectors and social contexts, Jim is a trusted connector with a diverse network – ranging from tech founders and Indigenous leaders to impact investors and ambitious philanthropists.

Jim and his wife, Beth, live in Victoria, BC and have three adult children. He is Chair of the Trails Board of Governors and has served as a trustee/governor of Upper Canada College and Pearson College UWC, and as an advisor to The Victoria Foundation, The Nawalakw Healing Society and numerous social impact organizations. In his younger years, Jim was a member of expeditions to Mount Everest and the High Arctic and continues to enjoy exploring Canada’s wilderness.
